KPMG and Arthur D Little on KM

There is an interesting paper on SAI Global on knowledge management within KMPG, ADL and an Australian law firm called Blake Dawson Waldron (BDW). On all three companies quite a bit has been published on how the do KM. What I found particularly interesting was that BDW actually uses KM as a marketing tool to gain new business and is even going down the road of competing for awards in innovation. Interesting one !

At the end of the document there is a table listing the common problems organisations are facing in Km such as people reluctant to sharing and how to extract the knowledge. But finally there is also the issue (and in my eyes big downside of KM) of employees relying too much on existing knowledge in databases.

I tried to find academic work on the deskilling factor of KM but couldnt find any. I wonder if this has been properly researched so far...
